MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State tennis teams will travel to Huntsville, Ala. to face in-state rivals Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Friday, April 13. Match play is slated for 11 a.m.
“Well, I think our guys have been practicing really hard,” said head coach
Anuk Christiansz. “We are looking forward to the match-up and really need more matches before tournament play on next weekend.”
The Lady Hornets (1-11 overall, 1-7 SWAC) have dropped their last two matches against A&M, but are looking to steal a win from the Bulldogs in their third and final try of the season. Both teams met earlier in the year, with Alabama A&M taking both contests 7-0 over ASU.
The Hornets (4-9 overall, 3-3 SWAC) have won two of their last three contests and are looking to end their regular season on a high note, going into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships on next weekend. Alabama State has defeated A&M twice earlier in the season 4-3 and 4-3 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex and at the SWAC East Round-up.
