ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Alabama State men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship on Friday in Alexandria, La. eliminating Jackson State 4-0.
 
 
ASU (5-11 overall/ 4-4 SWAC) clinched wins in all of its doubles match-ups. Bobby Brand was victorious at the #1 singles spot winning 6-1 and 6-4. John Freeman was accounted for the win at #5 spot, winning 6-1 and 6-0.
 
The Hornets won by default over JSU at the #6 spot in singles.
 
The Alabama State men's tennis team will face the number one seed Alcorn State in the second round of the tournament Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
