Box Score The Alabama State University soccer team fell 2-0 to in-state rival the University of South Alabama on Tuesday evening in Mobile, Ala.
“It's a tough task playing three games in the past five days, so we were a little worn down,” Head Coach
Jodie Smith stated. “We made a few mental mistakes in the second half that cost us the game and now we will go back, break down film, and prepare for Friday's match-up against Belmont.”
The Lady Jags (3-3) came out in the second half on the attack with 10 shots on goal and one for the first score of the game from Kristyn Thacker off the foot of Morgan Motes in the 56
th minute of the game. Madison Rodwell took an assist from Tatum Perry to add the second goal of the game for USA in the 66
th minute of the match, making the score 2-0.
The Lady Hornets (1-4) were outshot by USA 40-8. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kylee Hathaway had eleven key saves during the game, while ASU all together had 14.
“Kylee made a couple of key saves for us tonight and we're now looking to go back home and recuperate for the start of our eight-game home stand,” said Smith.
Alabama State will return back to action Friday, Sept. 7 when they host Belmont at 7 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Complex on the campus of ASU in its season home opener.
