BESSEMER, Ala. – The Alabama State bowling team went 1-4 during the Holiday Classic Friday evening at the Holiday Bowling Lanes.
The Lady Hornets started the day out on a positive note capturing a victory over No. 15 ranked Valparaiso by a total pin fall of 669-620.
ASU then took a bad turn, losing four straight beginning with Jackson State by a total pin fall of 612-670, next fell to Arkansas State by a total pin fall of 590-766. Sam Houston defeated Alabama State by a total pin fall of 594-710 and the Lady Hornets ended the day gifting a match to Texas Southern by a total pin count of 644-689.
"The loss of
Danielle Walker is a crippling blow to our team,” Head Coach Andreew Chatmon said about his sophomore anchor. “It is the equivalent of a team losing its starting quarterback. The rest of the team will have to try and step up, starting with better conversion of our spares.”
Alabama State will be back in action for day two's round of the Holiday Classic Saturday, February 23 beginning at 9 a.m. in Bessemer, Ala. at the Holiday Bowling Lanes.
