Tennis Travels to Face Jacksonville State

The Alabama State Men's and Women's tennis teams will travel to face Jacksonville State in an in-state non-conference matchup on Friday, March 15 at JSU Tennis Court. The match is set for 1 p.m.

“This will be the second time we would have played them this season,” Head Coach Anuk Christiansz said. “This will be a good non-conference matchup for us, before we return to conference play. They are a much more experienced team than we are. I'm very excited about where we are right now as a team on both the men's and women's side. I think that they are learning the system very well and will progress as the season moves forward.”

“We are a little bit short-handed on the girls' side, but we have to play hard, play strong to try to win.”

The Hornets (5-8 overall) won one of its tri matches over in-state rival Alabama A&M 7-0 before getting defeated by New Orleans, 7-0 on last weekend at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex.

The men's team is 30-46 overall with a .395 winning percentage in doubles competition, while holding a 12-21 record with a .364 winning percentage in singles so far this season.

The Lady Hornets (3-10) also defeated in-state conference foe Alabama A&M 5-2, before falling 7-0 to New Orleans in a tri match over the past weekend.

The women are 20-57 on the season in singles with a .260 winning percentage, while compiling a 9-23 overall record and a .281 winning percentage in doubles competition.
