Alabama State Men's Tennis Team Falls to Prairie View 4-0

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Alabama State Men's tennis team fell to top seed Prairie View A&M Panthers 4-0 in the quarterfinals round of the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday evening at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center.
 
“I've very proud of both teams.” ASU's Head Coach Anuk Christiansz. “They all fought very hard but we came up a little short today. We have a good program that we're building here, we just have to continue recruiting competitive players and practice harder. Again, I'm very happy for both teams and we look to be here again next year, but winning it.”
 
In doubles, the Hornets' No. 2 team (Lex Pierre and Jarred Thomas) defeated PV's Karim Fotso and Ronald Chidzikwe 8-6; while ASU's Bobby Brand and Julian Thompson fell to Jackson Varney and Craig Wiltz 8-4. Alabama State's Stefan Vojnic and Roderick Williams were overpowered by A&M's No. 3 team Rasaki Gbadamosi and David Aldaz.
 
During singles competition, the guys played hard but came up a little short. Pierre fell to Fotso 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot; while Thompson was defeated at the No. 4 spot to Chidzikwe (6-4, 6-1) and Vasquez knocked off Williams at the No. 6 spot 6-2, 6-2.
