Luther Page had a career-high
14 rebounds against UNDLuther Page completed a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, but it was not enough as Alabama State's second half comeback fell short in a 73-68 loss to North Dakota.Â
"I think in the first half we just went through the motions," Head Coach
Lewis Jackson said. "I can't put my finger on it because the guys were not getting up and down the floor like we really wanted to and we were not giving the effort defensively that it takes to win especially when you're on the road."

The Hornets trailed by as many as 25 points (40-15) in the first half, but started a comeback that ultimately was cut to five points (73-68), but in the end came up short.

Jackson said. " We just found ourselves in a hole trailing by 25 points, but in the second half we came out and started playing with the energy and giving a lot of effort and we started to make some things happen. You can't get down that deep and expect to come back and win ball games."

Jamel Waters led ASU with 15 points and had a game-high seven assists.Â
DeMarcus Robinson had 13 points and
Wendell Lewis, making his first start, contributed with 10 points, five rebounds and a game-high five blocked shots.

ASU (1-2) shot over 47 percent in the second half in making their run while holding UND to 34 percent.  ASU finished the game shooting 41 percent from the field. Their three-point shooting was off from the first two games as they only hit six of 18 for 33 percent. Free throw shooting also hurt the Hornets only hitting 10 of 18 (56%).

Jaron Nash led UND with 22 points, but only three of them coming in the second half. He also had a double-double with 10 rebounds as UND out rebounded ASU 45-42.

UND (2-2) finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field, but it was three point shooting that made the difference for them. They finished the game knocking down nine of their 22 attempts for 41 percent.

ASU dug a hole in the first half only shooting 30 percent in falling behind 42-21 at the half. UND shot 44 percent with Nash doing most of the damage with 19 first-half points on six of eight shooting.

Page came off the bench in the game and scored five first half points to lead the Hornets offense in the first half.

"We have to understand at the end of the ball game we have to execute and do the things that will allow us to be successful," Jackson added. "We have to keep these guys fighting and keep them up and hopefully we can get the next game on Friday."

All of the teams will take tomorrow off for Thanksgiving and will be back in action Friday. The Hornets will play Texas Pan America at 6 p.m. in Friday's action.
