Box Score MONTGOMERY - Led by Jasmine Peeples' performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds Alabama State University defeated the Faulkner Eagles, Thursday night 65-49 in an exhibition matchup.

The Lady Hornets controlled the first half as they led the majority of it with their largest lead being 10. Peeples led the Hornets with 10 points and eight rebounds with Danielle Ewert adding four points of her own. Miracle Mayo pulled down four rebounds also scoring two points. The Lady Eagles were led by Shannon Evans who had nine points with Taylor Love pulling down four boards. The Hornets took a 27-24 lead going into the half.
 
"We started off sluggish in the first half," said Coach Freeman-Jackson. "It was maybe five minutes that we only scored four points. We stretched the lead to 10 but we weren't able to close it out, only going into the half up by three."

Most of the 17 women roster saw action in the game before the start of the 2014-2015 regular seasonon Friday against Stillman.

"I thought that the girls played hard today," Freeman-Jackson said. "They did some great things offensively and defensively but, we had some mistakes especially with getting into foul trouble.  Our goal for the season is to keep teams under 50 and that's what we did. Overall we did enough to win the ballgame and will go back to the drawing board to improve and get ready for our season opener."

Tabitha Bradshaw scored 13 points, while Brittney Wright and Ashunte Smith had eight. The Lady Hornets scored 21 points off of turnovers with the bench scoring 19 in the win.
 
"Peeples got off to a slow start, but eventually she figured it out that was the best post player on the floor and it showed,: stated Coach Freeman-Jackson in closing."

Alabama State will open at home against Stillman in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, with the tip starting at5:30 P.M.
