Lady Hornets Basketball Falls to Western Kentucky

Box Score The Alabama State women's basketball lost at Western Kentucky 93-54, at the E.A. Diddle Arena.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before the Lady Toppers took its first lead of the game at 10-6 with 16:13 left on the clock.  WKU didn't let down, increasing its lead by 20+ points.  ASU was unable to chip into Western Kentucky's margin and trailed 47-29 at halftime.

"We were doing well until we stopped playing defense," said ASU Head Coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  "We started missing assignments and allowed Western Kentucky to make a run on us.  We have got to do a better job keeping control of the ball and defending it like we should have."

Alabama State (2-3) was led in scoring and rebounding by junior Jasmine Peeples with 15 points and 12 rebounds, grabbing her first double-double of the season.  Two other players scored in double figures, as Britney Wright and Daniele Ewert each scored 10 points.

"We had a lot of opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them like we should have," Freeman-Jackson said.  We will go from here and get ready for the next challenge."

Alabama State will return to action next Saturday, Dec. 13 at Troy for a 5 p.m. tip.
