Lady Hornets Bowling Team Prep For Wildcat Invitational

After coming off of a successful three day SWAC Round-up tournament for the 2014 season, the Alabama State women's bowling team now prepares for their next competition this upcoming weekend, February 7-9 during the Wildcat Invitational at the Sunshine Bowling Center in Deland, Fla.

The Lady Hornets have been able to get in a few good rolls, but weren't able to have a full weeks practice due to the inclement weather last week.

"Practices have gone well," said head coach Andrew Chatmon.  "We have identified and worked on those areas where we felt we needed to improve on.  We weren't able to practice last week like I would have liked to but we were able to get in a few good practices in order to prepare for this weekend."

"Preparation was mainly on those areas where we could get what we felt would give us the biggest chance for improvement."

The tournament will feature five NTCA top 20 (National Tenpin Coaches Association) ranked teams to include top-ranked Arkansas State (31-11), third-ranked Central Missouri (32-9), number 16 Alabama State University (28-12), 18th ranked Monmouth (18-17) and 20th ranked North Carolina AT&T.  Other participates included will be in-state rival Alabama A&M, Tulane University, McKendree, Morgan State, SWAC rival Southern University, UAB, and host school Bethune Cookman

"It is extremely important for us to execute well what we have worked on," Chatmon said.  "This tournament will have quite a few ranked teams and this will give us really good feedback as to not only the effectiveness of our practice, but it will show us where we stand in reference to other ranked teams in other conferences."

Updates can be found at BCUathletics.com as the results are turned in.  The first roll is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 7 with a (5) Four-Game Baker Matches.
