The Alabama State Lady Hornets fell 2-0 in its exhibition game against Faulkner University Saturday at the ASU Soccer Complex.
"We have to work on communication and we were very careless early in the game," Alabama State head coach
Jodie Smith said.
"We showed character in the second period by trying to come coming back and tying up the game."
The Lady Eagles scored in the eighth minute with an unassisted goal from Chelsea Jones.
Larissa Strath added the second goal for the Eagles in the 73rd minute of the contest off an unassisted chip shot.
"In the first half, we really weren't that good, just careless with the ball and really weren't playing with a lot of energy," Coach Smith said.
"In the second half, the tides changed. We came out playing with energy and started being aggressive with the ball, which created opportunities for us but couldn't finish."
The Hornets will now prepare for its season opener as they hit the road to take on the College of Charleston and South Carolina State.
