Orangeburg, S.C.- The Alabama State soccer team ended its first road trip with a 1-0 win over South Carolina State.
Aaliyah Lewis scored the match's only goal off an assist from
Deidra Woodward in the 46 minute.
"We're happy to get our first win of the season, we regrouped and responded well from Friday's lost" ASU coach
Jodie Smith said.
"Our defense was a lot more organized, which really helped us maintain possession. Woodward linked up with Lewis for a great goal to push us in to Tuesday's match at Troy."
Kylee Hathaway picked up nine saves to get the shutout.
Alabama State (1-1) will now prepare to face Troy University (0-2) on Tuesday in Troy at 3 p.m.
