Lady Hornets sweep Miss. Valley State

ITTA BENA, Miss.  – The Alabama State volleyball team trailed just one time in a set all match and widened their margin of victories in the successive second and third sets as the Lady Hornets swept host Mississippi Valley State 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) on Friday night to win for the 11th time in their past 12 matches.

The Lady Hornets (17-13, 5-2 SWAC) had their first set win in doubt when it trailed 16-15 after the Devilettes had taken 10 of the prior 13 points capped by a duel block off the hands of Liyah Davis and Cynthia Richardson.

But, ASU would turn it around by winning 10 of the final 15 points in the set marked by Rachel Smith, who had four of her 10 kills during the stretch.
