Tennis Host Mercer at 1 p.m.; Adds Tennessee State to Schedule

Alabama State University's tennis teams will have a quick turnaround as they prepare to host Mercer Sunday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. on the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Courts.  The game has been moved up an hour after previously being scheduled for 2 p.m.

It is the second of three consecutive matches ASU will host with the first of those matches being played Friday.  With just one day to get ready, the Hornets are going to try to do some light work in their preparation.

"We came out today (Saturday) and did some stretching and light workouts after a tough match against North Alabama yesterday," Head Coach Anuk Christiansz said.  "Mercer is bringing two quality teams to Montgomery tomorrow.  They have played a tough schedule which includes Tennessee, Arkansas and Georgia Tech.  We will have to be at our best in the match."

The Lady Hornets (1-3) are coming off their first win of the season while the men (0-5) are still looking for their first win.  The Hornets are still trying to work on the detail things to continue their improvement.

"While I am thrilled with the way the teams are competing, we are still not doing some of the detail work we need to do to get us to the next level," Christiansz said.  "Our improvement continues to show, but it's the little things we need to do better and that is what we are going to work on before tomorrow's match with Mercer."

The coaching staff has also announced and addition to the 2015 schedule as Tennessee State will bring both teams to Montgomery to face the Hornets and Lady Hornets at 1 p.m. on March 5.
