With the cold weather hampering players feel and touch on court, ASU overcame the difficult conditions to beat the Lions 7-0 with the Lady Hornets wrapping up the double header shortly after with a 6-1 victory over UAPB.

"Today was a good win for the teams; it was very tough conditions out there.  I think the guys and girls were very professional in taking care of business.  We will rest up today and hopefully come out tomorrow and get another positive result" said Head Coach Anuk Christiansz post match.

In men's action, the Hornets (2-7/1-0 SWAC) started their shutout march with the doubles point.  ASU won at two and three doubles to pick up the first point of the day.

ASU completed the shutout with straight set wins in all six singles matches.  The singles winners were Patrick Cvik, Takura Mlambo, Karlo Skvorc, Ronald Mataba, Jarred Thompson and Digvijay Naruka.

The Lady Hornets (3-5/1-0 SWAC) started the match winning the doubles point with wins at two and three doubles.  ASU won five of the six singles matches with singles wins coming from Marine Cartier, Brankica Orlovic, Irina Cvijovic, Matabe Akoachere and Nicole Tekelova picked up a win by forfeit.

It was the second consecutive win for the Lady Hornets and third in their last five matches.  The women will be back in action in tomorrow's second day of the SWAC Round when they face Prairie View A&M in a 9 a.m. match and will end their tourney action against Grambling State at 2 p.m.

The Hornets will join the women in facing Prairie View A&M at 9 a.m.  It will be the men's final match of the tournament.
