"We really had our chances in this one," Head Coach Anuk Christiansz said.  "We picked up a win at two doubles, but lost at three doubles 6-4.  We were really close to picking up the doubles point."
 
The Hornets (0-3) lost at three, four and five singles, but had the lead at one singles and was even with a set each at two and six singles.
 
"This match was close," Christiansz said.  "We really should have picked up this win.  I'm happy with the way the team competed against a very good Southern Miss team, but we had our chances.  We are going to get back to the courts and work on closing out these matches, but we really played hard."
 
The Hornets will be back in action when they host North Alabama as part of a double header with the women's team on Feb. 13 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
