GREENSBORO, NC  – An old sports adage says that it's not how you start, but how you finish.
That worked in favor of the Lady Hornets  volleyball team as Alabama State closed out sets in strong fashion on Friday night in defeating North Carolina A&T 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22) to win its second straight.
ASU (3-5) was able to successfully spread their attack once again with four players picking up at least six kills on the night.
Senior
Rachel Smith poured in another big match, racking up a team-best 12 kills to go along with 15 digs and an ace for her third double-double effort of the season.
Scout Wonsang set a new single-game career high with 20 digs,
Myla Marshall provided another steady outing with eight kills, four blocks, two digs and an ace while setters
Kori Kutsch and
Riley MacDonald combined for all 44 of the team's assists.Â
The Lady Hornets continue play in the Aggie-Spartan Invitational with two matches slated for Saturday.
ASU will take on Norfolk State at 10 am. Followed by a 6 p.m. match at UNC-Greensboro.Â
