The Lady Hornets made a valiant effort in falling to the Blue Hose in a 6-1 final.
 
PC (5-0) started the match picking up the doubles point with wins at one and three.
 
ASU (0-2) quickly evened the score at one when Marine Cartier picked up a win at two singles.  She won the first set 6-4 and PC's player retired following the set.
 
The visitors put the match away picking up straight set single wins at three, five and six.
 
Irina Cvjovic and Arantxia Wijngaarde lost the first set of their matches and fought back to force a third set in each of their matches.  Niether player was able to complete their comebacks falling 7-6 in the third sets.
 
"We had several chances to win this match," Head Coach Anuk Christiansz said.  "We got off to a slow start in doubles play and then fell behind in five of the singles matches.  We had to fight from behind and I thought the girls did a good job in fighting from behind, but we should not have been in that situation."
 
"I still like how they compete on the courts, but we have to do a better job of being ready to play when the match starts.  We played another really good team so these matches will make us better once the conference season starts."
 
The Lady Hornets will make the short trip to Troy to face the Trojans Friday, Feb. 5.  The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.  ASU will be back home to host Alabama A&M Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 7 they will host Savannah State, also at 10 a.m.
