MONTGOMERY – The Alabama State men's and women's tennis teams have a busy weekend ahead of them as they prepare to host five matches between the two teams.
Â
The women will kick things off hosting Georgia Southern Friday, Feb. 12 at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, both teams are involved in hosting Kennesaw State. The matches are set to begin at 10 a.m. Both teams are again on the court Sunday when Jacksonville State visits the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex for a men's and women's match which is set to begin at 1 p.m.
Â
The women enter the weekend with a 2-2 record and are coming off consecutive wins over Alabama A&M and Savannah State.
Â
"We are going into this weekend with a couple of the players banged up some," Head Coach
Anuk Christiansz said. "We are trying to get them well and back on the court."
Â
The men dropped their first two matches of the season, and that includes a tough 4-3 loss to Young Harris.
Â
"I came away from that match really disappointed in how we approached the match, but the men have gotten back to work and are ready to get back to a match," Chrisitansz said. "These three matches are going to be tough matches, but again, it should continue to help us improve as we work towards the conference matches that start up at the end of the month."
