Fouls and Turnovers Plague Women's Basketball As PV Slides by With a 63-60 win

 In a game that saw Alabama State women's basketball turn over the ball 22 times and placed Prairie View on the line 26 times to Alabama State's nine times in a 63-60 heartbreak loss to Prairie View at the W.J. Nicks Arena in Prairie View, Texas Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State's Brittney Wright' 15 points and 11 rebounds her 10th double-double on the season, just could not transition the Lady Hornets to a win over PV.  Miracle Mayo scored a season high of 14 points, while picking up a season high of nine rebounds in the loss.

Larissa Scott scored 18 points and pulled 14 rebounds, while Tori Carter added 15 points and Monique Abbs had 13 points to lead the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Hornets struggled with turnovers in the first quarter with nine allowing Prairie View to steal ASU also committed 31 turnovers in the game.  Southern had 14 steals as a team compared to just eight by Alabma State. 

"We committed way too many turnovers and missed quite a few free lay-ups," said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  "We have to be able to control the ball and make sure to make baskets when we need to."

The two teams traded baskets during the final minutes of play.  A late foul put Carter on the line to solidify the win for the Panthers.
The Lady Hornets will return to the court as they will face Texas Southern for a 4 p.m. tip to be broadcasted on ESPNU in Houston.
