MONTGOMERY – After a few days off the Alabama State University tennis teams will be back in action Friday, March 11 when they take the short trip up I-65 to Birmingham to face the Blazers of Alabama-Birmingham.
Â
The Lady Hornets (9-5) will take a six-match long winning streak into the non-conference match. A win over UAB (3-9) will give the Lady Hornets their 10
th win of the season which will be the third consecutive season under Head Coach
Anuk Christiansz the Lady Hornets would have reach double-digits in wins.
Â
"The ladies come to the courts every day working to get better," Chrisitansz said. "They want to get better and they will play through some nagging injuries to try and get better."
Â
The Hornets (4-5) will face a talented UAB (5-5) team that like the Hornets have been up and down this season.
Â
"The men need to come out focused," Christiansz said. "We have the ability to win we just need to be ready to play when we step on the court and that begins with doubles play. We have lost a lot of points in doubles play and that adds some extra pressure in needing to win four of the six singles matches and that is hard to accomplish."
Â
The match will be the first of a busy weekend as both teams will be back home to host North Alabama Sunday at 1 p.m.
