MONTGOMERY, Ala. –
The Alabama State men's basketball team will seek its second consecutive win as the Hornets welcome Alcorn State to the Oliver-Dunn Acadome for a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Alabama State (4-13 overall, 2-3 SWAC) is coming off a 57-55 thriller over rival Alabama A&M last Saturday. The Hornets held the Bulldogs without a field goal for the final 2:16, including a shot in the final seconds that would have tied the game.

Tony Armstrong came off the bench to provide a spark as he finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Rodney Simeon and Reginald Gee added 13 each.

Simeon ranks 13th in the conference in scoring, averaging 10.9 points, while Armstrong is seventh in rebounds  (6.5 rpg.).

Alcorn State, which is looking for their second straight road win, enters the matchup with the Hornets off an 82-64 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Braves (6-11, 3-3) used a balanced scoring attack in the win, as A.J. Mosby recorded 14 points, nine boards and eight assists.

Reginal Johnson leads Alcorn State in scoring, averaging 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds. He's scored at least 12 points in 15 of the last 16 games. Also, Marquis Vance averaged 10.5 points and 7.8 boards.

Alabama State concludes its two-game homestand on Monday at 7:30 p.m. against Southern.
