STATESBORO, Ga. – The Alabama State University men's tennis team picked up a singles victory on Saturday against Georgia Southern before falling 6-1 in non-conference action at the Wallis Tennis Center.
Alabama State (0-2) picked a victory at number one singles where
Takura Mlambo won in straight sets over Eddie Landin 6-4, 6-2. The point was the lone point of the day for the Hornets, although they were able to push Georgia Southern in a pair of other matches.
Tomas Fernandez forced a third and deciding set in his match with Artemie Amari at number three singles, before falling 6-1, 6-7, 1-0; while
Karlo Skvorc fell to Murphy McCullough 6-4, 6-4 at number six singles.
Georgia Southern was able to pick up the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles, and clinched the match by winning five singles matches on the day.
