Dorsey finished the night hitting .400 on 15 total attacks, and moved into sixth on the all-time list at Alabama State with 744 career kills.

The Trojans jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the set, before Alabama State used kills from Medearis, Bennett and Brown to go on a 6-3 run and tie the opening set at 7-all. From that point the Trojans took command of the set as they went on a 5-1 to open up a 12-8 advantage. After Alabama State pulled to within three on a Medearis kill (15-12), the Trojans went on a 9-2 run to open up the lead to 24-14. Brown was able to fight off a set point with a kill on a misplay by the Trojans to pull to within 24-15, before Troy was able to close out the set off the block.

Troy open the second set scoring 10 of the first 15 points, before the Lady Hornets stormed back with a pair of kills from Dorsey and another by Brown to go on a 5-0 run and tie the second set at 10-all. The Trojans responded with a 3-0 run to take a 13-10 lead before Medearis and Dorsey recorded a block at the net to trim the deficit to 13-11; however the Trojans were able to build the lead back to four at 16-12 which is where would stay most of the set until a Payten Clark kill cut the lead 21-18.

The two teams traded points early on in the third set with the Lady Hornets grabbing the early lead at 5-3. They would extend the lead to 6-4 on a kill from Clark, and against at 8-7 on an attack error by the Trojans. The two teams traded points at 9-9, before the Trojans went on a 6-1 run to open a 15-10 lead midway through the third set. A kill from Martin trimmed the deficit to 16-12, while Brown answered with another kill to trim the deficit to 18-14 before the two teams began trading points again late in the third set. However, back-to-back kills from Young have Troy a 20-14 lead. The Lady Hornets continued to fight back into the set, trimming the deficit to 21-17 and scored a pair of points off the serve of Amber Bolden before the Trojans were able to close out the match.
