MONTGOMERY, Ala. | After opening the season with eight consecutive road games, Alabama State will return to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome to host Tennessee State Tuesday night.

Alabama State (0-8) opened the season with eight games away from home, facing four teams who played in the NCAA Tournament a season ago. They return home to face Tennessee State (4-3), who leads the all-time series 19-9. The series dates back to 1944, and the Hornets have won four of the last five with Tennessee State winning the last meeting – 68-46 (December 14, 2016).

Reginald Gee leads the Hornets in scoring at 13.1 points per game, while also grabbing 3.8 rebounds per game and hitting 40.5 percent of his shots from the floor. He is also shooting 88.9 percent from the free throw line, which is tops in the SWAC and 67th in the country. The sophomore has scored in double figures in five of the eight games this season for the Hornets, while
Branden Johnson has scored in double figures four times thus far this season.

Johnson is averaging 7.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for Alabama State, while connecting on 64.1 percent of his shots from the floor – second in the conference. He is also blocking 1.50 shots per game, which places him second in the conference in that category.

Alabama State comes into the game having connected on a three-pointer in 161 consecutive contests, with the last game without a three-pointer coming on the road against Texas Southern (February 25, 2012).

Meanwhile, Tennessee State is led by Delano Spencer at 16.6 points per game, while Christian Mekowlulu is averaging 12.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game through the first seven games this season.
