JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama State men's tennis won their second consecutive match at the SWAC Roundup, easing past Jackson State University 4-0 in the final match of the day Friday.
Alabama State (3-7, 2-0 SWAC) claimed the doubles point, dropping just seven points in the process in the three matches. The number three team of
Tomas Fernandez and
Carl-Louis Luckmann eased past Jackson State's Fritz Jacobs and Stylianos Gkontsano 6-1; while the number one team
Takura Mlambo and
Ion Efrim won 6-3.
The Hornets continued the momentum into singles play where they dropped just eight games in their three victories at numbers two, three and four to gain the victory. Efrim won his match going away as he defeated Ryan Swanier of Jackson State 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile, Fernandez won his match at number three 6-1, 6-2; while Luckmann won his match at number four 6-1, 6-4.
Alabama State closes out play at the SWAC Roundup against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday afternoon, with the match slated to begin at 2 pm.
