MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama State University men's tennis team will host the second SWAC Roundup of the season this weekend at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, beginning Friday morning.
Alabama State (4-11, 3-0 SWAC) will look to improve their conference record when they play their matches against Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State and Alabama A&M this weekend; having played on of the three teams they will face earlier this season.
The Hornets will face a Mississippi Valley State (1-8, 0-2 SWAC) team in search of their first conference victory, as they dropped each of their matches played at the first Roundup. The two will face each other in the first match of the day, beginning at 9 am.
Alabama State will then face Alcorn State (4-15, 2-1 SWAC) in their second match on Friday, with the match beginning at 2 pm. The Braves have played two matches against common opponents with Alabama State, losing to Jackson State 4-2 and defeating Alabama A&M 4-0. The two teams have not met this season.
The Hornets will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when they take on Alabama A&M (0-17, 0-4 SWAC) in the final match of the tournament at 5 pm. The two teams have met once this season, with the Hornets coming away with a 4-0 victory.
Play begins Friday morning at 9 am, and rolls through Saturday night at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. Admission is free for both days.
