BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama State University men's tennis team dropped their regular season finale, falling to UAB 6-1 on the road in non-conference action Friday afternoon.
 
Alabama State (7-12, 7-0 SWAC) dropped the doubles point, but fought to secure a match in doubles before dropping a break point at number one where the team Ion Efrim and Takura Mlambo fell 6-4.
 
Trailing 1-0 headed into singles play, the Hornets fell behind 3-0 when UAB won matches at numbers four and two. The Blazers clinched the match with a win at five, before Tomas Fernandez was able to secure a point for Alabama State. Fernandez won his match at number three singles – the final match of the day – in a third set tiebreaker; claiming a 5-7, 7-5, 10-7 hard-fought victory over Stefan Gonzalez of UAB.
