NEW ORLEANS, La. | Briana Dorsey and
Asha Daniels were each named to the All-Tournament Team at the Tulane Invitational as Alabama State University split a pair of matches on the final day of the tournament.
Alabama State (6-7) dropped the opener to Tulane 3-0 (19-25.22-25,22-25) behind eight kills and four blocks from Dorsey, while she hit .389.
Bayle' Bennett added seven kills and four digs, while
Krysta Medearis added six kills.
Kori Kutsch recorded another double-double this season, with 16 assists and 10 digs.
Tulane (10-2) was led Kristen Thompson with 11 kills and Alex Silver with 10.
Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets ended the tournament with a 3-2 (18-25,25-18,19-25,25-19,15-12) over Northwestern State to claim their fourth victory in five matches.
Ni'yesha Brown led Alabama State with 13 kills, while hitting .263, and six digs. Medearis and Dorsey each finished with 10 kills in the match for the Lady Hornets. Kutsch recorded her second double-double on the night with 23 assists and 18 digs, while
Justus Tuiolosega finished her own double-double with 18 assists and 13 digs.
Daniels led Alabama State with 25 digs, while Bennett added 18.
Alabama State returns to action Tuesday night at UAB in non-conference action. The match is slated to begin at 7 pm.
