PORTLAND, Ore. | The Alabama State University volleyball dropped its final match of the North Harbour Marriott Invitational to Portland 3-0 (14-25,14-25,17-25) Saturday afternoon.
Briana Dorsey led Alabama State (2-4) with seven kills on 15 total attempts, finishing the night hitting .333.
Kori Kutsch tallied nine assists, while
Justus Tuiolosega finished with seven in the loss.
Kayla Torres finished with career-high 13 digs.
Portland (5-0) was led by Liz Reich with nine kills, while Reghan Pukis and Hannah Troutman finished with seven each.
Stat of the Night
- Senior Briana Dorsey was named to the All-Tournament team while leading the team during the match with seven kills and two blocks.
- Errors plagued the Hornets during the match as they committed 23 attack errors compare to the Pilots 10.
- The Lady Hornets led with 39 total team digs, as Portland earned 11 service aces.
How It Happened
- After Alabama State tied the score four times early in the first set, Portland saw its largest lead of 10 at the 20-10 mark before collecting the first-set victory, 25-14.
- In the second set, the host-Pilots jumped ahead 3-0 as Portland went up by as many as 13 with an identical 25-14 win.
- In the third and final set, the Hornets scored first on a Ni'yesha Brown kill as the two exchanged the next 19 points, knotting the score at 10.
- A 9-2 Pilots run switched momentum in their favor before the Hornets fell 25-17 in the set, dropping the match, 3-0.
