MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University men's and women's basketball teams will host Alabama A&M University at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Saturday, and with the rivalry game hosted on campus the Alabama State University athletic department will implement the clear bag policy.
In order to expedite fan entry and enhance safety, ASU will be reinforcing the entry points into the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, while enhancing pre-entry search of all entering the arena. All patrons are subject to being searched by law enforcement. In addition, patrons will be directed to entrances where staffing and resources will be coordinated at the main entrance of the arena.
The regulation limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into ASU venues. The following is a list of bags accepted for entry:
- Bags that are clear plastic or vinyl and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
- Small clutched bags, approximately the size of a hand, after being searched
- Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection
Prohibited items include but are not limited to:
- Purses larger than a clutch
- Briefcases
- Backpacks
- Fanny packs
- Diaper bags
- Luggage of any kind
- Cooler bags
- Approved seat cushions included large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers
- Any bag larger than camera bags
ASU encourages all fans and guests to arrive early and be patient as they enter the venue. While this may seem inconvenient to some, your safety and security is our highest priority. As a department, we work with ASU Public Safety, who regularly collaborates with local, state and federal authorities, to evaluate our security operations and flex plans accordingly. At this time, we have made the changes outlined above to ensure our events are conducted in the safest possible manner.
The department would also like all patrons to know that parking will be free and open to the public around the Acadome on Saturday, and following the conclusion of the game no one will be allowed on the arena floor or in the lower tunnel without a proper credential. For entry into the arena, all patrons must enter through the main floor concourse at the ticket office.
