MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Hot shooting in the first half helped lift the Alabama State women's basketball team to a 63-54 victory over Arkansas Pine-Bluff in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) women's basketball action Monday afternoon at Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
Â
Alabama State (4-11, 2-2 SWAC) won its second consecutive game at home, and was led in scoring by
Amber Hunt and
Keimeshia Walker with 13 points each – a new career high for Hunt.
Kayla Stephens added 8 rebounds and five points in the win.
Â
"We knew going in that Arkansas Pine-Bluff is really aggressive and wanted to pack the paint to make it difficult to get the ball to (Tatyana) Calhoun, so I thought our girls had a lot of patience moving the ball," Coach
Freda Freeman-Jackson said. "I thought it was a good win for us, and hopefully my girls understand what it takes to win in the SWAC because every team will be tough and ready to play."
