PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Alabama State University women's soccer team dropped their first conference match of the season as they gave up a second half goal to Prairie View A&M University and were unable to capitalize on their own chances in a 1-0 loss Friday night.
"It was a tough way to lose tonight on a penalty kick in the final minutes," Alabama State head coach
Jodie Smith said. "I thought at times we played well, but struggled with our decisions around the goal. Now it is time to regroup and focus on Sunday."
Prairie View A&M (3-7-1, 2-1-1 SWAC) and Alabama State (4-7, 4-1 SWAC) were scoreless for the first 87 minutes of the match before Blair Lane knocked home a penalty kick in the 88th minutes for the only goal of the match to gave the Lady Panthers the victory.
Alabama State returns to action Sunday against Texas Southern, with kick set for 1 pm in Houston.
