Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State picked up a 4-0 victory over Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
Alabama State (2-7) picked up the first point of the match by winning doubles, claiming victories at number two and number three. The number two doubles team of
Chris Andre and
Alejo Calvis defeated Fermin Ruiz-Gespo and Mateo Monroy 6-3, before the number three team of
Tomas Fernandez and Carl-Louis Lukmann defeated Alabama A&M's Armando Gray, Jr, and Joshua Wilson 6-2.
Alabama State clinched the match with three consecutive singles victories, beginning when
Alexis Collard defeated Monroy at number three 6-0, 6-0 to put Alabama State up 2-0. At number five, Calvis defeated Gray, Jr. 6-0, 6-1; before
Andrej Trajkovski picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Wilson.
Alabama State returns to action Friday when they face Prairie View A&M. The match is scheduled to tip at 2 pm at the Southern University University Courts as part of the SWAC Roundup.
