Alabama State (0-6) played shorthanded throughout the day as the entered the match already down 1-0 as they were playing without a number six player. In doubles play, the Hornets trailed before dropped the match at number two when the team of Tom Cecchetto and Mieszko Kwasniewski defeated the Alabama State team of
Alejo Calvis and
Chris Andre, 6-2.

In singles play, the Hornets dropped matches all but one match, with two of those matches pushing the limits. At number three, Calvis dropped a 6-4, 7-6 match to Southern Miss' Wen-Po Tseng; while at number four (after the match was decided) Andre fell to Southern Miss' Chung Han Tsai 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Ion Efrim picked up the lone Hornets' victory at number one singles with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Ronit Bisht of Southern Miss.
