Alabama State set to host SWAC Roundup this weekend

The Roundup will be played at three different sites

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will host the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup beginning Thursday morning using three different sites around Montgomery. The Roundup will be played at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, O'Conner Tennis Center and Lagoon Park.

The teams will play host to Mississippi Valley, Alabama A&M University, Grambling State, Alcorn State, Prairie View A&M and Jackson State over the weekend-long tournament. Play will start at 2 pm Thursday afternoon with Southern University facing Alabama A&M.

Alabama State opens play Thursday against Mississippi Valley State at home, with the match beginning at 2 pm. They return to action on Saturday at 9 am against Alcorn State, followed by the Lady Hornets hosting Arkansas Pine-Bluff at 2 pm. Alcorn and Jackson State will conclude the day at Lagoon Park Tennis Center.

The tournament continues on Saturday with each team in action beginning with the Lady Hornets and Grambling State at 2 pm. The teams will conclude play on Sunday as Jackson State and Alabama State begin at 9 am followed by Alabama State and Alabama A&M concluding the weekend with a 5 pm match.

The Lady Hornets enter the match after falling short 4-3 in their last match against Nicholls State, last week. Meanwhile, the Alabama State men's tennis team enters the tournament following a decisive 4-3 victory over Nicholls State. In that match, the Hornets picked up wins at number one and three singles, as well as picking up two of the three doubles matches (winning the point).
