Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opened play on the first day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup, with both the men and women capturing 4-0 wins on the opening day against Mississippi Valley State.
After a Mississippi Valley State forfeit at number three doubles, Alabama State (5-5, 4-0 SWAC) secured the doubles point with a 6-0 victory by
Lea Krajcovicova and
Gabriela Lackova at number two doubles. The momentum the ladies gained in doubles action carried into singles play as Lackova (6-0, 6-0),
Mirna Curcic (6-0, 6-0) and
Margo Muller (6-0, 6-0) swept their opponents and gave the Lady Hornets the four points needed to secure the win.
For the Alabama State (5-8, 3-0 SWAC) men, it was much of the same as
Andrej Trajkovski and
Alexis Collard won 6-0 at number one doubles; while
Alejo Calvis and
Chris Andre won 6-0 at number two doubles for the first point of the match. Carl Louis-Luckmann, Collard and Andre swept their opponents in singles play to secure the victory for the Hornets.
Alabama State continues the SWAC Roundup tomorrow, with the women opening play at 9 am against Alcorn State. The men will play at 2 pm against Arkansas Pine-Bluff, with both matches held at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Courts.
