ORLANDO, Fla. | Alabama State finished the Black and Gold Challenge with multiple top ten finishes on Saturday on the campus of the University of Central Florida.
On the women's side, the Lady Hornets 4x100-meter relay came in sixth place with a time of 45.60 seconds. Teammates
Ariayanna Val and
Christine Lavallias finished in 12th and 14th place, with times of 14.63 and 14.64, respectively.
Shamaria Lovett finished the 400-meter dash in eighth place with a time of 55.80 seconds, then finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.56.
Arion Span placed third in the 800-meter run with at time of 2:12.20,
Charminiqu Hackney came in ninth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.04 seconds.
Desiree Horn finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.66 meters (18-07.00), to set a new personal record. Teammate
Roderica White jumped a height of 1.68 meters (5-06.00) in the high jump.
On the men's side, the Hornets finished first in the 4x100-meter relay besting their own relay record with a time of 40.42 seconds. Meanwhile,
Joshua Coffelt finished seventh in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:05.19.
Terrance Adams 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.46 seconds. Meanwhile,
Josh Davis finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.49 seconds, while teammate
Norris Spike placed eighth with a time of 10.69 seconds.
In the 800-meter run,
Andrew Jackson finished third with a time of 1:55.99.
Caesar Kemp set a new personal best in the discus with a distance of 46.17 meters (151-06.00), and finished fifth in the shot put with distance of 17.01 meters (55-09.00).
Jamie Brown placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters (6-04.00).
Alabama State will be back on the track March 24 as they travel to South Carolina for the W.B. Relays.
