Alabama State releases 2018-19 bowling schedule

Lady Hornets set to compete against the nation’s best

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season champion Alabama State bowling team released the 2018-19 schedule Tuesday afternoon, highlighted by the annual ISTAP Hornet Classic.

Alabama State, who finished 71-40 last season, open the season on the road October 19 at the Tulane All-State Sugar Bowl Invitational, before heading to the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State November 2.

They close out the month of November with a road tournament at the Sonic Boom Invitational, hosted by Jackson State, November 9; before returning home to Brunswick Lanes to host the ISTAP Hornet Classic November 16.

After a break for the holidays, Alabama State returns to action at the Mid-Winter Classic hosted by Arkansas State – the third tournament hosted by a non-conference opponent who finished last season ranked nationally. Following that tournament, Alabama State opens conference play in Dallas at the SWAC West Roundup beginning January 18.

The Lady Hornets return to non-conference action at Florida A&M (January 25), before finishing up conference play with the SWAC East Roundup in D'Iberville (Miss.) February 16.

They will finish the regular season with tournaments in Baton Rouge (La.) at the Mardi Gras Challenge March 1, before finishing up the regular season March 15 at the TNBA Invitational in Gulfport (Miss.).

Alabama State and the rest of the conference will compete for an automatic berth into this year's NCAA Tournament when they travel to Arlington for the SWAC championships March 22.
