@BamaStateBowl opens 2019-20 season at Tulane this weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opens the 2019-20 season on the road this weekend, as they participate in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational.

The event begins Friday morning and concludes Sunday at Colonial Lanes, located in Harahan (La.). Admission is free to the tournament.

Several ranked teams will be participating in the tournament, including top-ranked Vanderbilt. The tournament also includes third-ranked Stephen F. Austin, fifth-ranked Sam Houston State, seventh-ranked UMES, eighth-ranked North Carolina A&T, 13th-ranked Lincoln Memorial, 14th-ranked Tulane, 17th-ranked Louisiana Tech and 19th-ranked UAB.

Also, in the field to open the season are Grambling State, Jackson State, Southern, Texas Southern, Tusculum and Valparaiso.

The tournament will be comprised of a three-day schedule and lane draws will be determined randomly in the coaches' meeting on Friday morning. The entire tournament will be scratch and will be based on match wins and losses. Teams will compete in five-game Baker matches on Friday, followed by five traditional game matches on Saturday. The teams will then be seeded based on total pins for the racket round on Sunday, which will three Baker best of seven games.
