MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Texas Southern scored a pair of second half goals to defeat Alabama State 2-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action Friday night, ending the Hornets' four-match winning streak.
After a scoreless first half, Alabama State (5-11, 4-3 SWAC) scored the first goal of the match when
Ashley Thomas took a rebound and put the ball in the bottom right corner for a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute. However, Texas Southern (4-8-1, 3-2-1 SWAC) answered just one minute later when Lexa Luna was able to tie the match at 1-all in the 52nd minute.
The Tigers added the game-winner in the 75th minute when Bailey Blalock put the ball into the net.
Alabama State returns to action Sunday afternoon against Prairie View A&M, with kick set for 1 pm. The team will honor their seniors prior to the match.
