Tallahassee, Fla. – Alabama State was unable to get into an offensive and dropped a 3-0 (25-8, 25-23, 25-21) decision to Florida A&M in non-conference volleyball action inside of the Al Lawson Center on Tuesday night.

The Lady Hornets (11-19) struggled offensively and the Lady Rattlers (8-18) defense was too much to handle as FAMU held Alabama State to a .060 hitting percentage and only allowed 27 kills on the night.

Bayle' Bennett led the way with nine kills on a team-best .368 hitting percentage alongside nine digs and two blocks. Junior
McKenzie Boland posted a match-high 25 assists with 11 digs to mark her fourth double double of the season.

Set One (Alabama State 8, Florida A&M 25)
The first set was controlled completely by FAMU as the Lady Rattlers held the Lady Hornets to just four kills, forcing four errors in 28 attempts. Alabama State could not slow down Florida A&M offensively as FAMU hit .393 with 12 kills.

Set Two (Alabama State 23, Florida A&M 25)
The second set was a battle as there were 14 ties including the 14th tie at the 22 mark. The Lady Rattlers was able to get a kill followed by a service ace to create enough space to claim the second set. The Lady Hornets bounced back offensively with 12 kills but were held to a .135 percentage.

Set Three (Alabama State 21, Florida A&M 25)
Despite securing as many kills as FAMU with 11, Alabama State could not get past the Lady Rattlers defense as the team committed 10 errors for a .027 hitting percentage. Additionally, FAMU was able to secure 14 digs and six team blocks in the set to earn the sweep.

The Lady Hornets will hit the road for a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference games on Sunday and Monday. Alabama State takes on Alcorn State on Sunday and Mississippi Valley State on Monday with both games starting at 6 p.m.
