MONTGOMERY, Ala. | As Alabama State prepares to play Florida State this weekend on the road, running back
Ezra Gray earned an honor for his performance in the classroom.
Gray was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree based on his academics and athletic ability by sports information professionals from across the organization. The senior, who graduates in May with a degree in Computer Information Systems, has a cumulative 4.0 grade point average.
Not only has he performed in the classroom, but also on the field as he was selected as a Preseason All-SWAC performer as a return specialist. He also went over the 1,000-yard mark for his career this season in a loss to Alabama A&M at the Magic City Classic, and rushed for a career-high 154 yards against Texas Southern on the road.
The 2019 Academic All-District® Football and Volleyball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football and volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 9-12.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed in links provided above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
