BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Following a record-setting performance at last week's Rod McCravy Invitational, senior
Jamie Brown was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Field Athlete of the Week.
Brown won the men's long jump at the Rod McCravy Memorial with a leap of 7.85 meters (25 feet 9.25 inches), the seventh-best mark in the NCAA this season. Brown's previous best mark this season in the long jump was 7.40m at the Gene Edmonds Open. Additionally, he finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.53 meters (47 feet 8.0 inches) and took sixth place in the high jump, clearing 1.91 meters (6 feet, 3.25 inches).
The honor was the second this season for Brown, who also took home the award on January 17 for his showing at Purdue's Gene Edmonds Open.
The Hornets will prime for next week's SWAC Championship (February 14 -15) with this weekend's Samford Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
