MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to action Sunday afternoon for the second consecutive match at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, hosting North Alabama.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm, and admission is free to all home matches.
Inside the Alabama State Hornets
- Alabama State looks to end a four-match losing streak that extends back to the lone win of the season on January 25.
- The Hornets are 0-3 in the month of February, with a pair of those losses coming on the road and one at home against West Alabama in their last match on February 4.
- Alabama State will play back-to-back home matches for the first time this season, and the Hornets are in the midst of a three-match home stand (February 16 against Jacksonville State).
- Alexis Collard is 4-1 on the season for Alabama State, including a 3-0 record at number three singles and a 1-1 record at number four singles. Collard finds himself in the midst of a four-match winning streak.
- Ion Efrim is 3-1 this season in singles play, including a perfect 2-0 at number two singles. He is also 1-1 at number one singles with a pair of matches unfinished at the position. Meanwhile, Tomas Fernandez is 3-3 is singles play for the Hornets.
- In doubles play, Alabama State is currently 6-12 with five different doubles' teams hitting the courts. The number three team of Chris Andre and Alejo Calvis are 2-2, the only team above .500 in doubles play.
Inside the North Alabama Lions
- North Alabama is 0-6 on the young season entering the match against Alabama State, not having yet won a team point in any of the matches this season.
- The Lions have dropped three matches against Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents this season, including a pair to Ole Miss to open the season. They have also dropped a decision to 22nd-ranked Alabama.
- North Alabama has faced two opponents Alabama State will face later this season, dropping matches to Samford and Middle Tennessee.
- The Lions have won a pair of doubles matches on the season, recording a 2-11 record.
