Gee of @BamaStateMBB named Second Team All-Conference

The junior was a preseason selection this season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State junior guard Reginald Gee was named Second Team All-Conference in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) on a vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors, announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.

Gee, who earned Preseason All-Conference honors prior to the season, earned his first all-conference honor as a member of the Alabama State basketball program. The junior went over 1,000 points for his career earlier this season with a short jumper against Texas Southern on the road in his hometown of Houston (Texas). He currently sits at 1,118 points entering the conference tournament Tuesday night.

The junior leads Alabama State in scoring at 13.6 points per game through 29 regular season contests, including averaging 13.0 points per game in conference play. Gee is shooting 40.6 (119-of-293) percent from the floor and 40.2 (47-of-117) percent from beyond the arc on the season. He is also shooting 74.4 (96-of-197) percent from three throw line and is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game on the season.

Gee has scored in double figures 21 times this season and 58 times in his career, including scoring 15-plus points 13 times this season (38 for his career). The junior has connected on three-plus three-pointers in a game 10 times this season (26 for his career) and recorded his first career double-double against Grambling State in January.

He is currently fifth in the conference in scoring entering the tournament and 23rd in the SWAC in rebounding.  Gee also is fourth in the conference in free throw percentage and eighth in three-point field goals made per game (1.7).

Gee joins Ivy Smith, Jr. (Grambling State), Andre Kennedy (Alabama A&M), Chris Howell (Jackson State) and Emmanuel Ejeh (Mississippi Valley State) on the second team. Jeremy Combs (Texas Southern) – the SWAC Player of the Year – headlines the first team, and is joined by Martaveous McKnight (UAPB), Gary Blackston (Prairie View A&M), Devonte Patterson (Prairie View A&M) and Jayveous McKinnis (Jackson State).

Alabama State begins play in the SWAC Tournament in the quarterfinals Tuesday night on the road at Jackson State. The game can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network beginning at 7:45 pm.
