GAINESVILLE, Fla. | Alabama State sent a pair of student-athletes into competition on the first day of the Pepsi Florida Relays Thursday night, both competing in the men's javelin.
Javaris Goins finished 24th overall in the event with a throw of 41.62 meters (136-06), while
Chaaka Trahan finished 25th overall with a throw of 39.63 meters (130-00) – with the throw by Trahan being a season-best and topping his mark of 30.49 meters (100-00) at the Black and Gold Challenge. Meanwhile, Najair Jackson of St. Augustine's captured the overall win with a throw of 67.14 meters (220-03).
The meet continues Friday morning and continues through Saturday, with the final two days of the meet carried on the SEC Network+ through the WatchESPN app.
