JACKSONVILLE, Fla. | Alabama State had a pair of student-athletes qualify for their quarterfinal races scheduled for Saturday night with a chance to advance to nationals, after their performances Friday night at North Florida.
Shamaria Lovett, who qualified for NCAAs last season, advanced to the quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday night (7:05 pm est) in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.47 seconds. She finished with the 20th-fastest time in the heats Friday, and finished third in her heat.
Meanwhile,
Kevin Spraggins advanced to the quarterfinals in the 200-meters with a time of 20.96 seconds in the event Friday night. He will attempt to qualify for nationals Saturday night (7:50 pm est) in the event.
Both Lovett and
Kyana Evans ran in the 400-meter hurdles, with Evans narrowly missing out on qualifying for the quarterfinals in the event with a time of 58.71 seconds. He finished less than a second behind Lauren Hoffman of Duke, who finished with the last qualifying time at 57.92 seconds. Meanwhile, Lovett ran the event as her second of the day, finishing in a time 1:08.44.
The meet concludes Saturday at the University of North Florida.
