MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opens the 2019 campaign this week against UAB in Birmingham, and there are many activities going around the game and in the athletic department with other teams this week.
The Alabama State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics wanted to make fans and alumni aware of a few things as you prepare for the week, and the game.
ALUMNI ROUNDUP
The Alumni Roundup begins at 4:30 pm Thursday afternoon at Legion Field – located at 400 Graymont Avenue W. in Birmingham (corner of 8th North and 4th Street West).
Bus Transportation (the 'Hornet Express') is available at $50, from Montgomery, AL to Birmingham, AL (Legion Field), for $50 per person, which includes ASU Alumni Round-up/Tailgate and Game Ticket. The 'Hornet Express' is scheduled to depart from the Office of Alumni Relations (1023 Tuscaloosa Street - across from the band practice field) at 2:30 PM and return immediately following the game. (Seating is limited and available on a first come bases.)

The Clear Bag Policy which has been in place at Legion Field for the Magic City Classic will again be followed for the season-opener against UAB.

COACH DONALD HILL-ELEY SHOW
The "Coach
Donald Hill-Eley Show" kicks off the week Monday night from Wintzell's in downtown Montgomery. The show will air from 6 – 7 pm on the Big KD and will be simulcast through WVAS-90.7 FM and the Hornet Sports Network.

Kickoff is set for 7 pm Thursday night in Birmingham at historic Legion Field between Alabama State and UAB – the first meeting in a decade between the two teams.

STUDENT BUS INFORMATION
Those students who signed up for the Charter buses to Birmingham's Legion Field should meet in front of the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Thursday at 1:30 pm (no later than 2 pm) to check in. The buses will depart at 2:30 pm for Birmingham's Legion Field and return immediately after the game. Those students attending the game on the buses MUST attend the Alumni Roundup in Blazer Village sponsored by the Jefferson County Alumni chapter and the ASU Office of Alumni Affairs. Tickets for those students are complimentary.

OTHER EVENTS THIS WEEK – ALABAMA STATE ATHLETICS
Alabama State will be in action in a pair of sports this week beginning with cross country running in Oxford (Ala.) at the Strut's Season Opener hosted by Jacksonville State on Friday night. The volleyball program kicks off the 2019 campaign at home in the ISTAP MEAC/SWAC Challenge Friday and Saturday, hosting matches beginning at 9 am each day.
