PINE BLUFF, Ark. | Alabama State ended a three-match road trip, falling 2-1 to UAPB in a hard-fought Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match Sunday afternoon.
Alabama State (1-10, 0-2 SWAC) got on the board first when
Paige Patton scored her first career goal on a well-placed corner kick that ricocheted off the post and into the net, putting the Hornets up 1-0 in the 18th minute of the contest. However, UAPB (3-6, 1-1 SWAC) scored the equalizer in the 43rd minute on a penalty kick by Alexis Sanders.
The Lady Lions' Sarah Wright added the game-winner in the 77th minute for the final margin.
Alabama State returns home for a pair of games beginning Friday night against Jackson State at the ASU Soccer Complex, with kick set for 6 pm. They will also face Southern Sunday afternoon in the home stand.
